Understanding Understanding

Video can be a powerful medium for communicating learning and understanding. As part of my coursework in Dublin in the summer of 2012, I worked with two classmates to explore misunderstandings about the human immune system. We presented our findings in a video produced and edited using Camtasia for Mac. The video features a mash-up of video clips, music, text and interviews conducted on the campus of Dublin City University. Additionally, we created a WordPress blog to host the project and explain our findings in detail.

Subversive Presentation

Traditional PowerPoint slideshows can be a real drag. During my CEP 817 course, we were asked to create a presentation that “subverted” the traditional models of presenting. I chose to create a presentation with the goal of educating students about Creative Commons. The video was created with Apple Keynote, which allowed me to construct animated transitions and movements. The presentation was recorded using Quicktime and then I added a music track to the video. All media featured in the video is from Creative Commons.
