Evaluation

Pre-survey
An initial survey will be given to teachers to gauge their understanding and familiarity with a tech skills and knowledge that will be important to the success of the program. The results of the survey will be used to inform some of the mini lessons and screencasts developed throughout the course of the program. For example, “embedding” something. I would like to know how many teachers understand the verb “to embed” in the context of digital content and how to do such a thing.

Goals / Wish list for learning
I would like teachers to set goals or wishes for their learning during the program. As the instructor, I will use the goals to develop the curriculum, but the teachers will also use the goals to guide their independent learning. We will revisit the goals periodically to see how we are progressing. Additionally, I would like to spend time breaking these goals down and asking teachers to think about why they want to achieve a certain goal, how they plan to get there, what deficits they have right now that are keeping them from getting there, etc.

Google Doc Diary/Reflection Space
Teachers will be asked to keep a running log of their learning during the program. This is the space where they can jot down ideas or inspirations they have, questions or challenges they might be facing, frustrations, etc. I will check in on this to see how I might be able to help individual teachers with certain issues they might be having.

Summative Project
Teachers will set their own goals and ultimately a project that they want to attempt. This is very open-ended and will involve them setting a goal for their own learning, with my help and the help of colleagues, and criteria for how they will know when they have met the goal. Examples of this could be revamping a unit plan using the TPACK framework or implementing a technology tool in their subject or an action research project. I will provide feedback on the project at various stages as will other teachers.

Mini “shares”
In addition to the larger, summative project, teachers will be asked to share tips and learning experiences throughout the program.

Post-survey
Teachers will be given a post-survey, similar to the pre-survey, to gauge their understanding of the content and to relay any lingering questions or concerns. They will also be asked how they plan to extend this learning.
